Lend a hand and your heart

As a volunteer-led organization, Brown Like Me relies on the generosity of our community members to help us offer meaningful activities and programming. There are many ways to get involved—from helping to lead a meeting to providing financial support. Every little bit helps!

Do you have a special skill or passion you can share with our groups? We’d love to have you speak or lead an activity at one of our monthly get-togethers. The setting is informal and fun—and we can help you plan and gather materials. We’re open to almost any topic: leadership and personal growth, financial literacy, community service, Black history, inspiring Black figures, understanding individual civil rights, and more. We’re especially interested in Black presenters so that our youth can see themselves represented within the community.

Also, we welcome help with fundraisers and event planning.

Do you have access to tickets to cultural and/or just plain fun events or activities that our youth may enjoy? We’d love to be able to bring the kids to experience the area’s arts and culture, see an inspiring movie, or lean new dance moves at a hip-hop studio.
